04What’s at stake

The responsibility also falls on the company

When a foreign national works for you, the law holds your company accountable too: its registration certificate, its notices and making sure each person has the right permit. These are the four slip-ups we see most.

  1. Your employee arrives on a tourist visaThey can’t work or be paid. In almost every case they have to leave Mexico and apply for their visa at a consulate.Who’s liableEmployee and company
  2. Your employer registration certificate isn’t up to dateIf your address, legal representative or business activity changed, your staff’s filings can stall until you update it.Who’s liableCompany
  3. A card expires or a notice is lateA fine and an extra filing. Until it’s resolved, your employee shouldn’t leave the country.Who’s liableEmployee and operations
  4. The INM comes for an inspectionIf someone is working without the right permit, the penalty reaches the company that employs them.Who’s liableCompany

06Questions

What people ask us before hiring

How much does it cost?

It depends on how many people and which filings your company needs. After the one-on-one meeting you receive a written proposal within 24 hours, with the scope and fees. The traffic light is free.

How long does a job-offer visa take?

In 2026, the median at the INM was 30 days, but it varies by office: about 28 days in Mexico City and 67 in Jalisco. Then come the consulate appointment and the exchange for the resident card. From day one we give you a realistic date for your office.

Can my candidate start working on a tourist visa while their visa is processed?

No. Working without the proper immigration status and permit is a violation for both the person and the company that hires them. If the project can’t wait, we check whether a visitor visa with permission for paid activities can cover the start.

Do you work outside Mexico City?

Yes. We serve companies across the country remotely, by video call and with digital follow-up, and we visit in person when the case calls for it.
